Electrical system problem..dimming headlights!
My electrical system has something wrong with it, when I'm driving (I work nights, so 95% of my driving is when it's dark out) the headlamps dim for a second and come back to normal brightness. The voltmeter dips down and shoots back up when it happens so I think that would rule out a problem with the lighting. The battery and alternator test fine...any ideas??

I have noticed the same with my car since I got her 3 years ago. Everyonce in a while the volts dip and the lights dim. It happens during the day as well you just dont notice it . I have had discussions with the service manager and the regional service manager and they explained that this is normal.

Same here. It used to bug me, but now I dont give it a second thought. Car's done it since new and havent had any further electrical problems. And underneath my back seat is packed with electronics, valves, switches, etc from nitrous, air suspension, sound, and light kits. My rear seat doesn't need a heater.

Mine has done it since new. No difference before/after the battery was replaced and the ground was fixed. You kinda get used to it.

You are not alone!
That's the nice thing about these forums. If something happens to your car, chances are pretty darn good it has happened to someone else already.

Along the lines of lights and such....it is such a pain to change foglights on a GXP! I almost miss my 99 SLE where I could get it done without all the swearing and throwing of things!

They all do the dimming thing.
Foglight bulbs are easy to replace. You have to remove the headlamp above the bulb you are replacing, then it is cake. It's a little awkward threading the wire from the bulb through the clip without touching the bulb, and the clip does sometimes want to hang on the side of the housing, but otherwise it's very quick and easy.

can anyone done the big 3 and still experienced the dimming? i would assume it would reduce/eliminate it completely.

I don't know about it being easy to replace foglights...my GXP is weird....I have to take the whole housing out to replace them, also the bulb number is different than any other GXP in the world, I swear. Mine takes the same bulb as a G6 takes, so after I bought the bulbs that I SHOULD have needed I had to return them for the correct bulbs.
