Default All Pontiac Show'n'Shine - Surrey, BC - Sunday, June 8, 2008

Once a year the Pacific Performance Pontiac Car Club hosts an All Pontiac Show'n'Shine. This year it is on Sunday, June 8, 2008 in the parking lot at Softball City in sunny (although it rained last year) South Surrey (very close to the Peace Arch crossing), British Columbia. The PPPCC http://www.pppcc.com/ is the largest and as far as I know only, all-inclusive Pontiac club based in the lower mainland of British Columbia.

All Pontiacs are welcome, it doesn't matter if you are a PPPCC member or not. Last year was my first year entering my Bonneville in the Show'n'Shine. It was alot of fun and I'll be back again this year. But if would be better to have more Bonnevilles at the show. Last year there were only 2 1987 onwards Bonnevilles and mine was the only one from British Columbia, the other (a nice white SSE) came up from Washington State.

You can check out pictures of all the Pontiacs that were at last years show here http://www.pppcc.com/2007p1.html Mine is the first (page 1, top, left) thumbnail.

This is not a points judging type of show, it is very relaxed and friendly. If you've not entered a show before, basically you do whatever your car needs to make it presentable prior to the show, then when you arrive you are directed where to park, since all cars in the same class are parked together. You set it up how ever you want to display it, hood up, trunk open, display board if you are really serious, and perform any last minute detailing. Each entrant gets a ballot and then you walk around, visit with the other Pontiac car owners, check out their cars and vote for you favorite in each class (last year there was about 15 classes). The ballots are counted and awards are presented, always a first in class and then maybe even a second or third in class, depending on the number of cars in the class. Last year the awards were plaques and ribbons.

If you're interested you can pre-register by printing the entry form here http://www.pppcc.com/show08.html and click the 08 Registration Form link. You can just show up and register the day of the event but it is cheaper to pre-register and it helps the organizers have a better idea how many cars are in each class, so they can arrange the show field and plan the awards appropriately.

Thanks, and hope to see some of my fellow BC and Washington bonnevilleclub members there.

Wow, that sounds like a great time! The wife and I might try to make that one. I'm not going to enter or anything, 'cause we won't want to stay all day, but we've been wanting to get up to the lower BC area for quite some time now.

that's a good point, if you enter it is a full day commitment. the schedule is that all cars must arrive before noon, and it breaks up at around 4:00pm. There are facilities like washrooms and concession, but you are basically stuck there for a good part of the day.

Of course, the show'n'shine is not just for the entrants, all Pontiac enthusiasts are welcome to come and check out the cars on display, it would be great to see you there, even for a short visit.

Sorry to dig this up from a couple months ago, but I thought there might be some interest in the popular vote awards, it took a while but the results were recently published
